MADE OF
CURIOSITY.
One-person studio. Many disciplines. A shared thread: making things work, and making them worth looking at.
VCLV is evolving into a design practice with a particular interest in concrete: its texture, mass and potential in small-scale contemporary objects.
VCLV is a one-person engineering design studio built on a simple habit: taking things apart to understand how they actually work, then rebuilding them better. That habit runs through every project on this site, whether it's reconstructing a decades-old glass-grinding process from a video recording, converting a desktop 3D printer to industrial-grade firmware, or writing a Python layer that lets a robot speak a slicer's language.
The work sits at the intersection of mechanical engineering, industrial design, and digital manufacturing — moving between CAD and Blender, between G-code and robot programs, between a part on a screen and a part in your hand. Most projects start the same way: a process that already exists somewhere, done by hand or on older equipment, gets studied closely enough to be reproduced, automated, or pushed further with robotics and additive manufacturing.
That range shows up in the tools below — from cast-iron lens grinding to robotic large-format printing to firmware-level printer control — less a fixed specialty than a working method applied to whatever the project needs.
Earlier VCLV concepts also explored optical phenomena including polariscopy and lenticular effects. Those experiments remain part of the studio's wider material and fabrication interests.
